MO Day…
First up, it is “MO Day” when we honour the memory of Moape Ravuvu, who collapsed at the end of Newport’s 2nd grade fixture against the St Ives Rugby Club on 26 May 2012. “MO” was instrumental in our 1999 Kentwell Cup win.
Each year since, MO’s Fijian friends have put on a Fijian “Lovo” (A feast of meats cooked in the ground) which are then presented in a banquet after the day’s play. The Meals they put on are always a huge success, with MO’s wife Julie usually found hard at it in the kitchen.
If you can – take a little cash – there’ll be a donation bucket to raise some help for Julie and her family.
