This year the reformatted G&W academy signals a move to a unified ‘One Club’ approach to talent identification, talent development, pathway creation and professionalism for the Warringah Junior Development Program.
The key changes in the program reflect a new focus on a core skill development pathway from junior reps to the new U18’s competition, colts, grade and representative honours beyond.
It is open to the larger junior representative development squads from U13’s through to U17’s (female and male). The new G&W Academy caters for around 150 of the peninsula’s best talent under the tutelage of the senior Warringah grade & Colts coaching teams and hand-picked players from the grade ranks.
This forms a crucial piece in the 2019 Junior Development Program, leading into the 2 day camp at the academy, team selections, team training, trial games and the State Championships in June. Throughout the G&W Academy, the senior players and coaches will feed back to the Junior Representative Coaches on specific player skill aptitude and training attitude, to allow for more informed selections come final squad allocations.
The program will run between Tuesday the 29th January – Tuesday 5th March. An intensive one hour session for six consecutive weeks concentrating on position specific skills through a bespoke program, developed by Mark Gerrard and his senior coaching team, designed to build weekly in skills progression across the program.

Following on from the growth and success of Girls Rugby 7s, and the introduction of 15 a side representative pathway for U13, U15 and U17 girls, we are very excited to be launching the Warringah Girls Rugby Academy for girls wanting to play 15 a side rugby.
The NSW State Championships now includes U13, U15 and U17 girls from which Sydney representative teams are selected. Both the U15 and U17 Sydney teams travelled to Brisbane last year, defeating Brisbane at Ballymore.
The Academy will provide development opportunities for teenage girls wanting to play 15 a side rugby, and a pathway to representative honours and playing for the Ratettes and beyond in adult life.
Training will be Sundays 4 – 5:30pm at the Sydney Academy of Sport and is open to all Girls born 2002 – 2007 that are interested in playing 15 a side rugby. No previous rugby experience needed.
