It was certainly an auspicious occasion last Wednesday when we welcomed former Wallaby Pat McCabe to a special ceremony after training at the Wakehurst Fortress! Teams were gathered from the youngest of our minis to the leaders in our Juniors, the U16s, as well as life members, committee members, coaches & parents.
Pat was very generous with his time, driving all the way from Canberra just for the occasion, and President Dave Cleary explained how Wakehurst is an inclusive club for all who wish to play rugby, and be assured the W pathway from here is no coincidence:
Wakehurst -> Warringah -> Waratahs -> Wallabies, the sky is the limit!
Pat presented 2 players with the very special milestone of 200 games, Bryn Thomas & Lachie Morris, congratulations to you both on becoming famous Wakehurst players! We also inducted several players into the 100 game club, well done to all those boys on this fantastic achievement!
And finally in recognition of the invaluable contributions in both their roles over the last 10 years, we inducted Nev Thomas and Woody as life members of the club. Congratulations and many thanks to you both for the countless hours you contribute!
